Trevor has put himself forward as the right man for the job and to present his case to the people in division 6 he has put a resume of his qualifications and experiences in a brochure which has been delivered to all constituents in the division. It can also be found at http://mccubbindiv6.buildr.com.au or check “About Trevor McCubbin” at his business site buildr.com.au.

Trevor’s vision is to see the redevelopment and revitalization of the Central City area including residential development between George St and the river. “Many of the old timber dwellings are ideal for redevelopment”. Trevor said. “This must be accomplished without losing the unique value of many of the homes that we need to preserve and incorporate into a future balance of both a residential and commercial prescient.    The increased density and cosmopolitan lifestyle will revitalise the CBD to become the envy of other cities and become the place to live. Parking and accessibility must be addressed now with a plan put in place so those looking to move into the area can best position themselves to fit into the plan. Living within walking distance of work and play has a lot going for it.”

“It is all about forward planning and must be done in conjunction with an upgrade of infrastructure in the area - especially water, sewage and storm water. These services have been neglected for too long considering its age but at the same time these services need to be upgraded to cater for future growth.

“I have experience in a broad range of industries and the Regional Council needs new people, along with the best of the existing councillors seeking re-election, to bring a fresh approach as to how business is done. This will bring a balance to the decision making process.

“People who know me know I am a lateral thinker, have excellent problem solving skills and look outside of the square when it comes to developing solutions because of my engineering and building background.’

My previous employment allowed me to become personally involved and work with people in all of the areas making up the Rockhampton Region. I live in the division I am contesting and I am  fully aware of the responsibility of Council especially to our youth to provide mental and physical stimulation through opportunities to participate in cultural and sporting pursuits.

It is not a part time position and the salary reflects this, so I will be working full time and I am looking forward to the challenge.

We need to get this right for our children and grandchildren. Rex Pilbeam built a barrage because he had a vision for Rockhampton that would need a reliable water supply. A legacy that is so obvious to everyone today. The same goes for the Art gallery and Theatre which bears his name. We must do the same. It’s what we do now that ensures a secure lifestyle and a prosperous future for all.
