Who's covering Moreton Bay? Only Rebellion
Todd over at Rebellion asks some hard questions about how this election is being covered, and puts his view on the campaign. 

With two sleeps to go, the excitement is really hotting up. In fact I almost saw an entire column inch concerning the election in the Courier Mail. While I realise that the only game in town for the CM is Brisbane and whether Campbell Newman will get a working majority, there is more at stake than that. Brisbane is pretty much a done deal. Campbell is back in and the only surprise left is how many Libs get up for him in the wards.

Rebellion's poll reaction

Rebellion in Moreton discusses the polling done here on qlddecides.com

Graham Young over at Qld Decides has put up an interesting breakdown of the issues confronting the new Moreton Bay Regional Council and its effect on voting intentions.

Whilst I disagree on his interpretation of the results, it does paint an interesting picture of the voting intentions of the region.

Moreton Bay is a new council that has been severely traumatized by its forced amalgamation. It was formed from the Pine Rivers and Caboolture Shires and the city of Redcliffe and the residents aren’t happy.

Joy Leishman - The Pitch
My name is Joy Leishman and I am the Mayor of Caboolture Shire. This March, our three communities of Caboolture, Pine Rivers and Redcliffe will amalgamate and become the new Moreton Bay Regional Council.

I am standing for election as Mayor of this new Moreton Bay Regional Council as I have a passion to see these great communities become one, whilst maintaining their individual character and identity.

Embrace the madness
Todd over at Rebellion thinks that we might as well engage with the highjinks of local elections. 

I have always been amazed by the extents that people will go to to win elections. The saying goes that all politics are local, and local politics are often the worst offenders for the great game of silly buggers.

There was a very bad 80’s era movie called ‘Brewsters Millions’, I won’t bore you all with the details, but there was a line in the movie and I paraphrase “Why would anybody want to spend $500,000 for a job that pays $100,000″.
