My name is Joy Leishman and I am the Mayor of Caboolture Shire. This March, our three communities of Caboolture, Pine Rivers and Redcliffe will amalgamate and become the new Moreton Bay Regional Council.
I am standing for election as Mayor of this new Moreton Bay Regional Council as I have a passion to see these great communities become one, whilst maintaining their individual character and identity.

Norman Miller, independent candidate for the Cairns Regional Council for Division 4 said that there were accidents waiting to happen in Cairns because of road safety issues.
“Council needs to take action on accidents waiting to happen” said Mr Miller. Residents in Div 4 have expressed fears that sometimes they risk their lives backing out onto the street from their own homes. Traffic calming measures are required urgently in areas of Kanimbla for example to slow down drivers who are speeding.”

RE: TRAVESTON CROSSING DAM
I was delighted to read in the Maryborough Chronicle ( 7/12/07 ) that you “will consider all comments when deciding whether or not to approve the proposal”, and that “you will consider any relevant issues raised in the Senate inquiry report and during the public comment period for the draft environment impact statement.”, although I am a little puzzled by the word “draft”.
