Todd over at Rebellion asks some hard questions about how this election is being covered, and puts his view on the campaign. 

With two sleeps to go, the excitement is really hotting up. In fact I almost saw an entire column inch concerning the election in the Courier Mail. While I realise that the only game in town for the CM is Brisbane and whether Campbell Newman will get a working majority, there is more at stake than that. Brisbane is pretty much a done deal. Campbell is back in and the only surprise left is how many Libs get up for him in the wards.

Judgement in Cairns: Byrne "not fit for office"

Mike from Cairnsblog makes his judgement in the Cairns Council race.

I was looking through the files, and saw some interesting leaflets that I thought I'd share.

I moved to Cairns just before the 2000 election, and quickly settled into Yorkeys Knob. There were promises from Big Kev that he would deal with the Northern Beaches access roads if he was elected. They have a history of flooding and blocking residents in almost every wet season.

The Greens' Public Transport Shame File

The Greens have released a Liberal/Labor "Public Transport Shame File" as part of their campaign to win some wards, and make Jo Bragg Lord Mayor.

Labor/Liberal public transport shame file

 The Greens today released the public transport shame list, proving that both Labor and Liberal have failed on public transport. Ms Jo Bragg, Greens Lord Mayoral Candidate said today, "The best guide to future action is past action, and the Greens have logged the disastrous record of Labor and Liberal on public transport issues and produced the shame file. It is hard to pick out the most nonsensical  things the major parties have done as the shame list is so long."

Cycling is transport!

Cycling advocates Isabelle and Michael write asking that cyclists be better catered for in South East Queensland.

Cycling is the best  form of sustainable and equitable transport which also provides social interaction, recreation and physical activity.

There has been a big uptake of Cycling in SEQ and a number of new Bicycle Users Groups have formed in recent years.

Rebellion's poll reaction

Rebellion in Moreton discusses the polling done here on qlddecides.com

Graham Young over at Qld Decides has put up an interesting breakdown of the issues confronting the new Moreton Bay Regional Council and its effect on voting intentions.

Whilst I disagree on his interpretation of the results, it does paint an interesting picture of the voting intentions of the region.
