I have just read a summary of the report commissioned by council,
and done by the AEC Group on the performance of Wide Bay Water.
This was brought to my attention when I read Strewth! and then
highlighted after seeing the Mayor of Hervey Bay on the local TV
news, criticising the report.
Brisbane is getting ready to vote again just four months after the
federal election. This time it is the Brisbane city council elections
which are scheduled for Saturday 15 March. Brisbane currently has a
Labor dominated council in its 26 wards but has a Liberal mayor. I live
in the eastern ward of Hamilton
which has 27,000 registered voters. With the ward containing blue-rinse
suburbs of Ascot, Clayfield and the eponymous Hamilton, it has long
been considered a safe Liberal seat.

"It had to happen sooner or later," said Division 9 Council Candidate Janine Aitken.
"There
I was just spreading my word of a better local government, when this
snappy dog barrelled me up and nearly took my foot off!" said Janine,
who was recounting the events of weekend door-knocking.
Currumbin residents campaigning against a proposed development by Resort Corp on Pacific Parade at Currumbin have festooned the houses on the street with unauthorised banners urging residents to vote for candidates who "support the townplan".
The development, opposite the exit from the Currumbin Surf Lifesaving Club carpark, is at the end of an easement between two older blocks of units. The proposal seeks approval for a 4 storey block of 15 units on a site that is currently zoned for 6 units and three stories. The development application only provides for 12 carparks.
