The Longreach Regional Council consists of the former shires of Sarina, Mirani and the City of Mackay.

With the current mayor of Mackay Cr Julie Boyd retiring it is a wide open race.  

The favored candidates are Mackay deputy mayor Cr Don Rolls and well known business identity and former ACCC chair Col Meng.  Meng to win.
