The Gold Coast City Council now includes the suburbs of Beenleigh and Eagleby formerly part of Logan City Council.
While it is a Melbourne Cup field there are only three genuine prospects, the current mayor Cr Ron Clarke, Cr Rob Molhoek and the Liberal Partys’ Tom Tate.
Cr Clark has rebadged himself and is positioned slightly to the left of the other two candidates to distinguish himself in the contest.
Preferences are likely to be critical.
Warwick Capper to run last and Dean Vegas to poll well.
