The current Lord Mayor is expected to sweep the floor with his party expecting to win as many as six additional wards.  Cr Campbell Newman will need to pick up at least four wards to gain a majority on the floor of council.

The recent ward distribution favors the Liberal Party, with them likely to pick up two notional additional wards as a result.

The ALP has five sitting councilors not re-contesting the election and is in a rebuilding phase for the 2012 council poll.
