The Blackall Regional Council consists of the former shires of  Blackall and Tambo.

An interesting contest, the old Blackall Shire area has three times as many voters as the Tambo area.  

The mayor of Tambo Cr Dougal Davidson has been a dominant figure in Western Queensland for over 15 years and if he stands would give the Blackall mayor Cr Les Wheelh
