The Barcaldine Regional Council consists of the former shires of Barcaldine, Aramac and Jericho.

A community that is split down the middle on the issue of amalgamation.  Conservative voters are likely to punish the current mayor of the Barcaldine Shire Cr Robert Chandler who is perceived to have sided with the State Government.
