The Shire of Banana now includes Division 1 of the former Taroom Shire consisting of approximately 934 electors.

This poll will be interesting in that the sitting mayor Cr Glenn Churchill ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Federal seat of Flynn, loosing by the nearest of margins.  

While he is a popular mayor, voters have a history of punishing mayors who have sought to run for a higher office.
