With amalgamation and the March elections imminent, our region is about to move into a pivotal period in its development.
In times of such significant change, it’s imperative to have strong leadership, direction and management …not unlike the priorities for running a successful business. In fact the elected members of our new Council will be managing one of the region’s largest businesses, responsible for millions of dollars in valuable community infrastructure.
We need fresh blood, people with business and management nous, who are
switched on, with no hidden agendas, who will let their actions speak
louder than words and not be content to just ‘settle’ and ‘go with the
flow’ … people who can give our new Council a solid footing from Day
One.
My name is Gary Jensen and I’m ready to do just that. I was born in
Maryborough and have spent many years here in joint operation of the
family business and also running my own business, so I care deeply
about the future of this region. Now I’m ready to step up and put my
considerable business and change management experience to good use
where it is sorely needed – in our new Regional Council.
A quick read of my profile (attached) will give you a clear
understanding of the qualifications, expertise and community
involvement that I can bring to the role.
What matters?
People and community do. It’s often too easy for elected members to
lose sight of the people they are there to represent and I feel one of
the greatest challenges facing new Councillors will be ensuring all
residents have equal access to the Council, irrespective of where they
live or what they do in the region.
My priorities also include:
Planning, delivering and managing cost effective infrastructure
Natural Resource Management – particularly our precious water resources
Protecting our local environment – in relation to its importance to our region’s tourism industry
Delivering orderly and efficient land use
Talk to me and you’ll discover I’m approachable, pragmatic and a hard
worker. I welcome your feedback and I’m available for your calls and
to answer questions at any time.
Vote for me on 15th March and you’ll get a representative who offers:
Open, honest communication.
A real world focus and experience in community, business and rural sectors.
Knowledge and skills to develop positive, working solutions.
Experience working with people from all walks of life.
There’s never been a more important time for us to work together,
that’s how we will give this wonderful region of ours the direction and
leadership it deserves.
