Greg Rowell has launched a 7 point plan to tackle graffiti in Brisbane
which includes new Clean Up Crews, a dedicated 24 hour graffiti hotline
and a boost to Council’s free graffiti removal kits. “Graffiti is a costly, unsightly mess that troubles both residents and small business,” Labor’s Lord Mayoral Candidate Greg Rowell said. “There are 40,000 graffiti reports to Council each year. “If elected on March 15, I will invest $4.536 million in the budget to deliver a 7 point plan to tackle graffiti in our suburbs. “Campbell Newman’s had 4 years to tackle graffiti and clearly he hasn’t made it a priority because he did not deliver his last election promise to fund a graffiti hotline. “Under Campbell Newman it can take a week or more to remove graffiti and clearly that’s not good enough. “Labor’s plan will ensure graffiti’s removed within 72 hours. There will be new Graffiti Clean Up Crews that will clean up graffiti for a nominal fee and Labor’s plan will boost graffiti clean up kits. “Labor’s practical local plan will see graffiti attacks discouraged by more public art that will enrich our suburbs. “Campbell Newman’s budget blowouts have stopped him delivering his graffiti promises and Brisbane residents deserve more. “If I’m elected, I will be a prudent financial manager who will rein in financial waste and budget blowouts and I will deliver on my promises.”
