Labor to lose The Gabba?

Will Labor lose The Gabba ward and if they do who will be the winner -the Greens' Drew Hutton, or Liberal Matthew Myers?

Polling by Ask Australia suggests that at least Hutton is perceived as a potential winner by one of the parties. In the opinion of Graham Young, this is most likely to be Labor.

Canned Dots? Can Do! Lord Mayor unveils innovative policy

Campbell Newman should win the election with a vote of 60% or better. While residents are evenly split on whether the city is heading in the right direction, the Labor councilors get most of the blame for the problems. Newman is winning because he is seen to be trying to get on with the job “in difficult circumstances”. Voters want to give him a fair-go, and he has every chance of taking seats from the ALP who are seen as obstructive, particularly if voters continue to think of the contest as being of the Newman team against Labor candidate Greg Rowell.

Newman's poll numbers not good for some

Sarah from The Voice of Today's Apathetic Youth is trying to come to terms with the fact that here least favoured option for mayor, Campbell Newman, is polling his socks off. (By the way, according to yesterday's Sunday Mail, Newman's vote is ooking closer to 70%) 

According to this post on Larvatous Prodeo, quoting Crikey, Campbell Newman's primary vote is sitting pretty at around 60%. And the strongest Liberal seats are in the outlying suburbs, i.e. the bogan habitats (my guess is that the Liberal vote is especially strong in the developer-planned white-person communities we constantly see advertised on TV with 'waters' in the name).

60%. Looks like Brisbane can permanently kiss goodbye to any hope of a sensibly planned and managed public transport system.
