Buses every 5 minutes = no bus shows up for 20 minutes then 4 show up at once, unless you can fix the problem of accurate timing.

More or better buses doesn't do it either.

Busways are a half-solution. You really want buses that run more like trains -- you buy your ticket before getting onto the platform, and they _never_ mix with city traffic. This approach has been used successfully in Bogota, for example. See my YouTube on this at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgifnSa2Yj4

Thank you, Philip. Much of what you say is on the money.
Restructuring the network would help to keep buses running on time. Long routes and many stops just mean that there is more potential to make buses late. Making more, shorter routes would help address this, as would fare machines at busway stations and more pre-pay services, like the new P137 (Sunnybank Hills pre-paid).
Some outer suburbs are poorly serviced by buses which run infrequently, and take unreasonable lengths of time to get to their destinations.
Much of this could be solved by working in partnership with Translink.

I am running as an Independent candidate for Wishart ward. Brisbane needs councillors who aren't tied to their party policy to bring up issues like this, otherwise it turns into a question of "how many new buses to we need?". The answer is: as many as possible, but they're useless if they can't run efficiently.

Why are small feeder buses not being proposed to the Busways. Even minibuses could be used. True there is a higher cost of more drivers but there would not be the waiting time to build the buses.

More bus lanes-In Juliette St the 180 often stands for 10 minutes witing to get on the Busway. I have written to C Newman on both of these issues and received negative responses.
